About Alex
A curiosity about people, work and what comes next.
I'm Alex Young, founder of Positions and host of The Working Theory.

My interest in the world of work comes from years spent building businesses, working with teams and having conversations with people about their careers and experiences at work.
I originally founded Favourite Positions in 2022, creating a podcast centred on conversations with people who loved what they did. After more than 100 conversations, I wanted to take those discussions further and explore the bigger forces shaping our working lives.
Positions is the next chapter: a broader editorial platform bringing together the stories, research and people behind the changes happening across work, careers and workplaces.
I'm particularly interested in the questions without easy answers, the assumptions worth challenging and the people doing things differently.
I don't think anyone has the whole picture. That's exactly why I started Positions.
